Efficient Shipping Animation Live

Carbon War Rooms, New York came back to see us to create another animation like we did for Renewable Jet Fuels this time for Efficient Shipping. Same style, similar feel but different subject. These guys are aiming to put efficiency labels on massive container ships that move across our oceans. Aiming to bring costs and CO2 emissions down. Look on your family fridge there is a similar thing on there.

Looks like we are defining a bit of a style for them. We wonder if this one will get on CNN like the last one did. Mr Branson, hope our like them.

An idea can turn to dust or magic, depending on the talent that rubs against it.

Resonate Festival

What we’re you up to on the The 16th & 17th March ? Well Danyin (Design freelancer that we introduced a few posts ago) spent her weekend at the Resonate Festival.

Held in Serbia’s capital, Belgrade, Resonate is a new platform for networking, knowledge sharing and education. Danyin notes “It was mainly focused on programming and the world of scripting, and how that applies to new media and design. It was very interesting because it opened my eyes to programming, and its various applications in the design world.”

Danyin found the work of Josh Nimoy particularly interesting,  Josh is a multifaceted software artist who uses scripting to create imagery and then works with designers, C4D artists and 3D artists. An example of a polished product from josh would be the hologram elements in TRON: Legacy. Danyin also liked the work of Jer Thorp, The former geneticist, is now a generative software artist and educator. Jer works as a data visualizer for the New York Times. Its like infographics, but in a larger scale, and more accurate. He uses scripting to organise data, and then visualising it so we commoners can understand.

Pappa Hay

We’ve been on edge in the studio for the past few weeks. This time its not because we’re rushed off our feet due to deadlines or because Justin’s deleted the wrong files, no, this time it’s because we’ve been eagerly anticipating the arrival of the latest addition to the Hay family (Andy Hay is our long term freelancer).

It has been an “Is he here yet?” situation for the past month, but nearly two weeks late baby Samuel Ogden Hay was born on 25th February weighing in at 10.5lbs, a very big but very healthy baby.

So a big congrats to Andy and Bel and we look forward to having the little Metalhead in the studio soon.

Changing The Rain – Part 2

Now we do not like to brag at Made Visual but we are very proud to tell you that ‘Changing The Rain’ (The Horrors new single) Is currently on over 131,000 Views. Well done guys the song was a great track and a pleasure to work on, we’re glad to see it doing so well.

Following on from our earlier post, you’ll remember that we’ve been hard at work alongside Mr. Pete Fowler. Together we created a short animation video for the bands new song and since it went live last week, we’ve seen nothing but great responses such as this mention that went out on Creative Review.

Pete also had an amazing interview with Tom Cowan from the horrors, So we’d also like to say a big thanks to The Quietus for that. Don’t forget you can watch the actual video here.

Babies In The Studio

So we’ve got some new guests in the studio. This time its not a great illustrator or fantastic photographer, not an extremely tall model, brilliant animator or even an ex freelancer coming to visit. No we’ve been invaded by little baby foxes.

We noticed something very strange, it wasn’t just because everyone was tired after a hectic weekend or going mad due to overworking ourselves, we could actually hear shuffling and crying coming from the gap above our storage unit.

Sadly mum is up there with the cubs so no pictures however see below for a sneak peek of where they decided to set up their new home.

The Horrors – Changing The Rain

The Horrors – Changing the Rain Filmclip has launched, we collaborated with The Crazy, Psychedelic Illustrator and loverly man that is Pete Fowler of Monsterism. Hopefully it will flip you out as much as the late nights and coffee consumption that we needed to bring it to life.

So we present to you  “Project Rain” as we’ve been calling it here at the studio, is the animated video for the forthcoming single ’Changing The Rain’ by British band ‘The Horrors’. Its been brilliant to have such an inspiring song to start with and then bringing the imagination of Pete to our studio it sure was going to be something different.

What’s next Pete ? ‘Maybe we can make the video to Rihanna’s next single’. Something tells us maybe the wrong Genre but Made Visual are always up for a challenge. The track is taken from the bands’ current LP ‘Skying’ which consequently just won NME album of the year 2011. Let’s see if you can spot who’s who in the video.

The Team

We realised that after all this time, we haven’t actually introduced ourselves. So this is the Made Visual Team, From Left – Right =

Alex : The only guy in a shirt. Alex is one half the owner of Made Visual Studio, let’s just say he’s the boss round these parts. Alex has a creative mind and background in fashion, he’s great at thinking up and developing a great idea from little to nothing, as well as liaising with clients and potential businesses, he’s the go to guy if you need to get something, mark my words. Alex is also the healthiest Made Visual member which means Junk Food friday is often frowned upon.

Rochelle : The Tiniest one in the picture. Roch is the junior member of our creative team, she started off as an apprentice on a DV8 Digital Media course and is now developing her graphic design and editing skills. Alongside being Admin co ordinator and logistics manager of everything around the studio, Roch also expresses her creativity through funky hairstyles and her words and music, as a female rap artist she goes by the name Dat Kid Scyth (She’s quite good check her out & see our xmas message)

Justin : The crazy dude next to Roch. Jusso is the second half of the MV bosses. The soya drinking crazy Australian graphic designer an animated animator, spends half the day laughing, joking and creating crazy voices to match his mood and the other half of the day envisioning, seeing and creating or should i say work work working. If Justin’s not here till 4.30 am he’ll be here on a weekend don’t you worry, glad we have such persistence as an inspiration for the team.

Andy : The hairiest guy in the photo. Finally Andy or Snowflake as he is called from time to time, a fantastic freelance designer and animator. He’s our in-house tech support dude, 3D dude and generally the dude in charge of anything else computery. The brand new daddy is also a drummer in a Black Metal Band called Crom Dubh, and alongisde his drumming and creativeness he also eats like a bottomless pit.
